GBT BRINGING HIGH-SPEED BROADBAND TO STAFFORD COUNTY RESIDENTS

GBT is excited to announce we have been awarded a Connectivity Emergency Response Grant from the Kansas Department of Commerce to build a Broadband Wireless Communications Network to the cities of Hudson, Radium, and Seward.  GBT currently serves the cities of Macksville, St. John, and Stafford with High-Speed Broadband, and the Project will also provide service to the Rural Residents in the outlying areas of these cities.

GBT will be investing a matching portion of the grant to bring High-Speed Broadband to the non-served and under-served residents of Stafford County.  Construction will begin in October and is expected to be completed by December 30, 2020.  Customers who live in these areas can start pre-signing up for service today!

Stafford County Economic Development and GBT have been working together to tackle the issue of insufficient broadband in Rural Stafford County since 2017.  When the opportunity to apply for funds through the Connectivity Emergency Response Grant arose, GBT and SCED moved quickly to meet the two-week application deadline.  Elected officials, residents, businesses, and anchor institutions all supported the grant application through letters of support and other documentation.

“The end goal of these efforts is to connect as many Stafford County residents as possible who have a need for High-Speed Broadband, an essential lifeline to conduct business, telework, student distance learning, and enable medical telehealth visits from their homes.” said Beau Rebel, General Manager, GBT.

GBT is excited about the opportunity to help close the Digital Divide and bring Broadband to residents and businesses that were very limited on Broadband availability.  This investment will help close that gap and create an infrastructure that supports greater economic activity in Stafford County.

GBT is a local cooperative that has concentrated on building High-Capacity Communications Networks for over 65 years.  Their core values are to invest in and support local people and communities.
