2023 FRS Youth Tour | Trip to Washington D.C.

Deadline: March 1, 2023 | Trip Dates: May 31 – June 4, 2023

If you are a 16 or 17-year-old high school student whose parents/guardians have at least one GBT service, you are eligible to apply for the FRS Youth Tour!  This all-expense paid trip brings together 100 high school students to Washington DC for 5 days to learn about legislative and government processes and the importance of quality broadband connections.

Youth Tour Overview

GBT and the Foundation for Rural Service are offering students from rural areas a once-in-a-lifetime experience! Students get a first-hand look at the telecommunications industry, learn about legislative and governmental processes, and get the rare opportunity to visit our Nation’s Capital. The Foundation for Rural Service limits the tour to 100 students so they have the opportunity to meet other students from across rural America. To learn more about the tour, visit www.frs.org/youthtour.

GBT will cover all registration, travel, and tour expenses for one student to attend the Foundation for Rural Service Youth Tour. The student will also receive $50 spending money. The total tour value is nearly $2,000!

2023 FRS Undergrad Scholarship Program

Deadline: February 8, 2023 | APPLICATIONS ARE NOW CLOSED

Apply now for a $2,500 General Scholarship for students from rural America to an accredited college, university, or vo-tech school which GBT co-funds with the Foundation for Rural Service! This program seeks to encourage students to return to their rural communities upon completing their education. If your parents or legal guardians receive at least one GBT residential or business service, make sure you apply, as GBT has had multiple past recipients!  But there’s MORE–$5,000 James L. Bass Legal Scholarship for students entering their first year of law school and Additional Named Scholarships are available – ONE APPLICATION MAKES YOU ELIGIBLE FOR ALL AVAILABLE SCHOLARSHIPS!

The foundation annually awards scholarships to an exceptional group of rural students for their first year of college or vocational school. All applicants require sponsorship by an NTCA—The Rural Broadband Association member company to be eligible.

FRS has awarded over $1 million in scholarships since its inception; empowering rural students throughout the country to advance their communities with invaluable skill sets and experiences.
