Today we are honored to celebrate the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

We are especially encouraged by his message, "The time is always right to do what is right."

We strive to always do the right thing. The right thing for our customers. The right thing for our communities. The right thing for our cooperative.

Dr. King was a perfect example that doing the right thing isn't always easy, but it's crucial in making this world a better place - and there's no better time to do right than right now.

"Somewhere we must come to see that human progress never rolls in on wheels of inevitability. It comes through the tireless efforts and the persistent work of dedicated individuals. Without this hard work, time becomes an ally of the primitive forces of social stagnation. So we must help time and realize that the time is always right to do right."

Thank you for being an inspiration to all, Dr. King. #MLKDay #MLK2022

Some GBT customers have received an email explaining their email inbox is full and to help free some space, they need to reply with their username and password to free up space. GBT wants to ensure all of our customers know this is a SCAM and phishing attempt to gain access to your information. If you receive this email, simply just delete the email from your inbox.

This is a great time to remind everyone to be diligent and to not give sensitive information over the phone or via email. Check out page 3 of our October Newsletter, where we explain what to look out for from scammers and hackers! www.gbta.net/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/2021-Connection-October.pdf

Who can say that they have spliced fiber before? The GBT Jr. Board now can!

Last week GBT's Pat and Rick showed the Jr. Board what the fiber splicing process looks like and then gave them a go at it.

Great job Jr. Board - we may have some future GBT technicians! πŸ˜‰

We mourn the passing of Dave McKay, the first General Manager of GBT, who passed away on December 20th.

Dave served as General Manager of GBT for 33 years, growing the company to 17 area towns. We would not be where we are today without his leadership.

We keep Dave's family in our prayers during this time and celebrate the life he lived well. Dave was a wonderful man. He never knew a stranger, and always had a great story to tell. We are forever grateful for the lasting legacy he has left at GBT.

MYTH – Often, people use the terms “Wi-fi” and “Internet” synonymously, but they are two different things. Wi-fi is just the vehicle that carries Internet to your device, whereas Internet, is essentially a wide area network that connects you to other computers, sites, or servers around the world. 2. TRUTH – Some household devices, like microwaves, garage door openers, and cordless phones operate on the same 2.4GHz frequency as your Wi-fi, therefore can affect your Wi-fi signal. 3. TRUTH – How many Wi-fi devices do you think your household has? According to a 2020 survey, the average American had access to more than ten connected devices in their household. (Find out more here: statista.com/statistics/1107206/average-number-of-connected-devices-us-house) 4. MYTH - You may be under the impression that Wi-fi is short for “wireless fidelity.” It turns out Wi-fi stands for ... nothing. (You can read more about how Wi-fi got its name here: huffpost.com/entry/why-called-wi-fi_l_5cace3f7e4b01bf960065841) 5. TRUTH – Through GBT’s Managed Protection which includes, a top-of-the-line Wi-fi router, automatic software updates, and superior security, plus our team of experts, we can give you your BEST Wi-fi experience! As always, if you have any questions about Wi-fi, we’d be happy to help answer them!
