Service trouble? We are here to HELP!

Please review the troubleshooting tips below to find resolutions to common service related issues. If you’re unable to resolve the issue with your service, please complete the trouble request form or call your nearest GBT office. You can also contact the GBT Help Desk by calling 1-800-432-7965.

Basic Troubleshooting Tips

No Dial Tone
Please make sure that all the phones are hung up in the house and are plugged securely into the wall or base station. Once you have ensured all phones are hung up, check each phone for dial tone. If you are able to establish dial tone on one phone then you could be having issues with your telephone or the wiring to your wall jack.

If you have a mobile phone you can try calling your home phone to see if it will ring or if you get an operator message when dialing the number.

If you have other services with GBT, please check those. If other services are down at the same time this could indicate that you are part of an outage or some other service effecting issue. At this point please submit an online ticket or contact our 24/7 Help Desk at 800.432.7965 for further assistance.

Trouble Receiving Calls
Please check and make sure the ringer on the phone is turned on.
Make sure that the phone is plugged into a working wall-jack. Ensure you have dial tone on your end.

If you only have one phone or a base station, try plugging the phone into another wall-jack.

Please verify that the people trying to call you are dialing the correct phone number, or try calling your number from another phone if possible.

Verify that your device is connected to your wireless router or is properly plugged into the Ethernet port. If you can see or connect to your WiFi with another device, there might be an issue with the device you’re using or an issue with the wireless coverage at your location.

If you can connect to your WiFi but still not able to browse the Internet, check the lights on your router. Most routers have lights indicating whether the router is connected to the Internet. If there are no lights on your router, check the power supply is plugged in properly.

If the router is plugged into the power supply and you are still not able to browse the Internet, it is time to power cycle your router/modem. To power cycle your router/modem, unplug the device from the power supply and allow 30 seconds before plugging the device back into the power supply. DO NOT reset or reboot the router using any buttons that appear on the router itself.

Once a power cycle has been completed on the router/modem allow up to 5 minutes before attempting to browse the Internet. If the connection issue still persists, please submit an online ticket or contact our 24/7 Help Desk at 800.432.7965 for further assistance.

If your TV freezes, skips, or audio and video cut out your equipment might need a reboot. To reboot your set top box or Streaming device, simply unplug them from the power source and then plug them back into the power. It may take a couple minutes for the TV system to restore itself.
